The Dash 2
What is the Dash-2? Think of it as a companion to the Dash-1. This is an unofficial document that covers different areas of flying the C-130 Hercules. To keep the whole document from being release and re-released, I've broken it up into sections.
Section 1 is primarily a systems and emergency procedures review. For the most part, it's just an overview...and while it doesn't cover everything in the Dash-1, it will provide you some information found only in Lockheed Manuals, Maintainence TOs, or CBTs.
Section 2 is all about TOLD and performance data. The idea is not to turn you into a 10 minute TOLD wizard, but to guide you through the definitions. The purpose is to show you why certain numbers (like Vmca) are important and what they allow your to do...or not do.
Section 3 describes how to fly instrument procedures in the Herk. It covers flight planning, en-route procedures, holding, and arrival procedures.
Section 4 is the TAC section. It covers low-levels, visual and SKE formations, airdrops, and tactical arrivals.
These are the primary sections of the document, but other more indepth sections will be made available as addendums (for instance, the SKE Guide).
These sections are always in flux. Something is always changing out there. If you see something outdated or just plain wrong, let me know; I'll make the appropriate changes. If a document is listed as being in BETA, that means that I'm working on an update, but have released an interim version until I have made all the changes and thoroughly proofread the final version.
